Trivandrum gets its own Games Village

Trivandrum is set to get its own snazzy National Games Village along the lines of the much-hyped Commonwealth Games Village in New Delhi. The 35th National Games Secretariat has just called for bids from developers for constructing the Games Village on 16 acres of land on the banks of the scenic Aakulam Lake.

Stay tuned for the tender for the 50,000 seater International Cricket Stadium that will be the center piece of the National Games infrastructure and perhaps, the home of the new Kerala IPL team.

  1. Good news!
Hope this one will be planned as highrises on line with the current trend along that corridor and not the usual run-of-the-mill midrise blocks that usually comes up for these sports events. With yourself among the think-tanks of the project, we sincerely expect so, ajay? ;)

  2. I would have loved to see a high-rise Games Village but the relatively high location of the site combined with the need to develop the units at the earliest will probably mean that we will have to forgo the high-rise option. But I am sure we will get a modern design like the CWGV in Delhi.

  6. Lol, when will you folks grow up? "Anonymous" as usual and the same old whine. Perhaps you haven't read the papers or seen the news lately, else you would have understood that it is a Kerala IPL team with matches to be played in both Trivandrum and Cochin.
